A 40 mm backset replacement centre gearbox for compatible GU Europa old-style multipoint door locks. This is a copy replacement, not a genuine GU-manufactured part. It has a single 8 mm spindle follower and lift-lever operation.

Check your existing gearbox

Match the backset, spindle-to-cylinder centres, case shape and fixing positions before ordering. Old-style GU gearboxes have a cut-away upper corner; newer GU cases have a different top profile and are not interchangeable. This gearbox does not reproduce the split-spindle or fast-locking function of other old-style versions.

• Backset: 40 mm, measured from the front faceplate edge to the centre of the handle spindle.
• PZ centres: 92 mm from the handle spindle centre to the centre of the cylinder's circular section.
• Case height: 208 mm excluding fixing lugs.
• Case width: 59 mm.
• Spindle: single 8 mm follower.
• Fixing screw centres: 108 mm from the top to middle screw; 92 mm from the middle to bottom screw.
• Latch height: 32 mm.
• Deadbolt height: 35 mm.
• Latch-to-deadbolt gap: 54 mm, measured from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt.

Operation and handing

Lift the handle to engage the locking points, then turn the key to deadlock the door. The latch can be reversed for left- or right-handed doors. Use with a compatible Euro-profile cylinder.

What is supplied?

One replacement centre gearbox, supplier reference GUCASE40OLD. The full multipoint locking strip, handles and cylinder are not included.
