The GU Europa multipoint door lock is a high-quality locking solution designed for enhanced security and smooth operation on uPVC and aluminium doors. This version features 2 rollers, 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch, with split spindle operation for nightlatch functionality.

Product Compatibility and Identification

GU multipoint door locks are part of the "Secury" range, with split spindle and lift lever versions identified under the "Europa" designation. These locks are commonly referred to as "GU" or historically as "GU Ferco". To identify a GU lock, look for the stamped GU logo on the faceplate.

Old vs. New Style Locks

Older GU locks may have a cut-out top corner on the gearbox, while new style gearboxes feature a vertical groove. The two are not interchangeable. If your existing lock is the older style, a new full lock strip may be required instead of just a replacement gearbox.

Lock Operation (Split Spindle):

• To Lock: Lift the handle to engage hooks, rollers, and deadbolt. Turn key to secure.
• To Unlock: Turn the key, then push the handle down to disengage all locking points and retract the latch.

Latch & Nightlatch Reversal:

• Latch reversal: Remove screws, reverse latch, and reinsert.
• Nightlatch reversal: Insert screwdriver into slot above spindle, pull latch out, reverse, and reinsert.

Rollers & Compression

The included 2 outboard rollers improve door compression and alignment. Rollers do not contribute to security but help reduce warping and enhance weather sealing. They are adjustable by ±1mm.

Hooks & Deadbolts

GU uses two types of hooks: slim "flip" hooks and robust "SH" hooks. Deadbolts ("MR" type) are chamfered for tight compression and resistance to tampering.
