This model operates via a split spindle nightlatch function, offering automatic outside handle disconnection when the door is shut—ideal for residential applications where external handle control is important.

Operation Instructions

To Lock the Door:

• Lift the handle to engage hooks, rollers, and deadbolt.
• Turn the key to secure the door.

To Unlock the Door:

• Turn the key to unlock the mechanism.
• Push the internal handle down to retract all locking points and latch.

Latch & Nightlatch Reversal

• Latch Reversal: Unscrew the side screw near the latch, remove, reverse the latch, and reinsert it. Re-secure the screw.
• Split Spindle Setup: Insert the spindle 2/3 into the internal handle and 1/3 into the external handle for nightlatch functionality.

Important Compatibility Notes

• Older Latch Heights: Some earlier models have a 28mm latch versus 33mm in current versions. If undamaged, the old latch can be reused.
• Bifold Doors: 30mm backset gearboxes fitted to Smart Aluminium bifolds may not be interchangeable with standard 856 gearboxes.
