About the GU Europa Locking System

The GU Secury Europa range is a modern series of multipoint locks available in lift lever and split spindle configurations. "Europa" designates locks operated by levers or nightlatch mechanisms. While some older models are referred to as “GU Ferco,” all new versions are branded simply as GU.

GU multipoint locks are easy to identify by the GU stamp on the faceplate. Older models can be visually distinguished by a cut-out top corner on the gearbox, whereas the new-style versions feature a vertical groove for handle bolt alignment.

Upgrading or Replacing Old GU Locks

• Old-style locks may not support split spindle operation.
• If replacing an old unit, minor adjustments to the keeps or door may be necessary to accommodate the new lock.
• Replacement gearboxes are available, but split spindle functionality requires upgrading to the new-style full lock mechanism.

Backset Options

Available in 28mm, 35mm, 40mm, 45mm, and 55mm backsets, with split spindle options in 35mm and 45mm. Choose the correct backset from the dropdown menu to match your door.

Latch Reversal Instructions

• Older models: Unscrew and manually flip the latch.
• Newer models: Use a flat screwdriver to press the rectangular latch release and reverse the latch.
